Spearfisher in Papua New Guinea
Tom is a photojournalist, filmmaker, marine biologist, cinematographer, video editor, and author. His work focuses on conservation stories, human-nature interactions, and ocean-related topics.
He is a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers and the Ocean Artists Society, and was named German Science Photographer of the Year in 2016. His films have screened at over a dozen festivals, including four times at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival in New York.
Originally from Germany, Tom has travelled to nearly 50 countries. He finished high school in South Africa, spent a year diving in Egypt, and has been based in Fiji for over seven years.
In 2020, he founded Pacific Media House, a visual production company covering film and photography in all three dimensions. His clients include major organisations such as WWF, WCS, UNDP, and SPC.
Tom’s photos and videos are represented by Nature Picture Library and iLCP. He also contributes to scientific literature, with several peer-reviewed papers in marine ecology and ornithology.
In 2024, he captured the first-ever photograph of the New Britain Goshawk, a rare bird not seen for over 55 years.
