Sunset Troop | Louis Guillot

$142.00

A troop of bolivian red howler monkeys preparing to go to sleep in their favourite tree, half an hour before sunset. They would sit in this tree most evenings - grooming each other, young ones play fighting and all shooing away mosquitoes! As their name suggests, howler monkeys howl, but the howl sounds more like the roaring of a lion - their howl is used for communication, for waring off predators and rival howler monkeys as well as an indication of fitness - a loud howl means a healthy monkey. Their incredible howl is one of the first noises you hear at dawn in the amazon rainforest and it can be heard over five miles away! Amazon rainforest, Peru, Tambopata

Louis Guillot is a wildlife photojournalist, zoologist, and children’s forest educator. For as long as he can remember, he has been drawn to wildlife from the streets of urban London, where he grew up, to the depths of the Amazon rainforest, where he most recently spent eight months living and documenting biodiversity and conservation projects.

Louis joined the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP) in September 2025. His work has been featured in outlets such as Forbes and BBC Wildlife Magazine, and he has received recognition in competitions including Nature Photographer of the Year and MontPhoto.

When asked about his favourite species or groups, he can never choose just one:
“I get obsessed with certain subjects, stick with them for a while, then move on to something else only to realize I’m coming back to my original obsessions, going in circles… I love doing this.” His belief in connecting children to nature through education has led him to work with forest nurseries, as he views children as the future of conservation.

Louis’s mission is to continue capturing wildlife and using his visual storytelling to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to appreciate and protect nature. He believes that when we help nature, nature reciprocates, and we all benefit.
