A harp seal pup, about 14 days old, makes its first swim in the icy waters of Canada's Gulf of St. Lawrence

Brian Skerry is a veteran photojournalist and filmmaker specializing in marine wildlife.  His signature style is to create intimate stories and visuals that inspire audiences to see the world in new ways.  Since 1998, Brian has been a contributing photographer for National Geographic magazine, having photographed 34 feature stories, including 7 cover stories.  An 11-time award winner in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, he’s also been named the National Geographic Explorer of the Year, NANPA’s Outstanding Photographer of the Year and received a Primetime Emmy Award. He is the author of 14 books and a Founding Fellow of the iLCP.
