Photojournalist Sergio Pitamitz has French and Italian double citizenship. For over two decades he has documented wildlife and environmental issues, focusing in particular on African wildlife, big cats and Polar regions. He is a contributor of the Italian edition of National Geographic Magazine and his work has been featured in leading magazines such as BBC Wildlife, Geo Magazine, Terre Sauvage, National Geographic website, as well as other National Geographic publications. Sergio’s work has earned recognition in numerous prestigious international photography competitions like Nature’s Best, National Wildlife, and Audubon. In 2016, he won the prestigious NPPA (National Press Photography Association) Best of Photojournalism first place in the Environmental category, and in 2025, he earned third place in the Science Story category. He is a National Geographic Expeditions Photographer, Chairman of the prestigious Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation’s Environmental Photography Award, and Producer of SIPA Talks, a day filled with lectures and interviews from renowned international photographers during the Siena Awards Festival in Italy. Through his photographs and conservation stories he wants to inspire people to protect and preserve wildlife and nature.
